In the beginning there were amps; but lo, the amps had no reverb. And God spoketh, “Let the heavens and Earth ring forth with echo-y sustain!” And the sound was good — nay, gnarly. But God needed musicians to carry forth the sound he had created in his infinite power, and thusly was Uncle Sea Monster whelped from the loins of the Kracken to unleash the reverberation upon the people of the world.

But Uncle Sea Monster fell aimless amid the waves and so did begin to follow the teachings of the great Reverend Jethro Gonzalez who, being of spiritual focus, did turn the volume up to frightening levels and tuned his mighty radio to Phil Dirt’s KFJC Surf’s Up! And the music fell upon the ears and bathed the souls of the band who stood up and would carry the great music of the surf unto the planet. He then gaveth his wisdom to Uncle Sea Monster, “Thou shalt not tolerateth no candy-assed wimps!” And Uncle Sea Monster saw that it was indeed ripping.
